Super Therm is a water-based solar heat blocking coating, that is specifically designed to prevent solar heat from loading on any external surface, regardless of the surface type it has been applied on (Metal, Asphalt, Concrete, Rubber, etc..). Super Therm is ideal for any external application where solar heat loading is a problem. Super Therm offers the easiest way possible to keep surfaces cool from the sun's heat. You simply paint it on the surface and Super Therm does the rest.  Once applied, Super Therm will block 95% of the solar heat from ever loading, resulting in an ambient surface temperature that is physically cool to the touch, even on bare metal, regardless of how hot it is outside. When used to reduce high air-conditioning cost, Super Therm and Sunshield shatters high energy cost! Super Therm is more than a mere reflective cool coating that depend only on its color (white) to reflect. The specific nano ceramic material used in Super Therm's formula lack the density to load and transfer solar  heat.

For example, just as it is with a piece of paper, no matter how hot it is outside, the paper will always be at an ambient surface temperature and physically cool to the touch, because paper lack the density to load and then transfer / conduct solar heat energy. The 4 very specific nano ceramic materials used in Super Therm's formula are 50 times lighter than paper and cannot load or hold solar heat because Super Therm also lacks the density required to load and hold solar heat, resulting in an ambient surface temperature, that is physically cool to the touch, even on bare metal! Super Therm is part of a technology platform where on the lower end of the technology platform, our Super Therm and Sunshield coatings are primarily designed to block solar heat loading on external surfaces and on the higher end of the technology platform, we provide a spray on water based ceramic coating solutions called HPC. HPC is designed to be applied directly to hot metal surfaces up to 1200 F. No other coating systems can cover the range of applications from something as simple as blocking solar heat from the sun, to high temperature applications where our HPC high temperature coating system is applied directly to hot piping, boilers, heat exchangers, etc!

When applied to Metal roofs and side walls, Metal Containers, Asphalt, Concrete, Rubber, Shingle roofs, or any other external surface, nothing works better in blocking the sun's heat from loading! Super Therm is first in class at proactively preventing solar heat loading. Competing product can only reflect as long as they stay white and clean (and most do not) and they usually do not provide long term performance. Independent testing shows that Super Therm provides long term performance (20+ years), with very little drop off in performance, as the heat blocking materials used in Super Therm's formula are inert materials and they will provide the same level of performance over the years. 

Super Therm has received the prestigious SSPC E. Crone Knoy Award, for use on the Hoover Dam. Super Therm: Examples of uses and application points

Industrial and Commercial:

  • Any external surface regardless of the surface material (metal, concrete, ashphalt, rubber, etc.).

Application Points:

Preparation:

  • Surface must be clean and completely dry, with no loose debris or particles, rust, dirt, oil, films or residues of any kind. SUPER THERM® will cover previous coatings if they are fully adhered to the surface
  • If over-coating an existing paint, make sure all gloss is removed from surface by sanding or minimum blast
  • Mechanically stir, as ceramics will tend to settle
  • Remove all filters from spray equipment (Pump and Gun)

Application methods:

  • Airless or pot sprayed: tip size .029-.033; apply in one coat using crosshatch method
  • Roller: use 3/4" nap commercial roller; apply in two coats
  • Brush: use soft bristle brush; apply in two coats
  • Vertical surfaces should be applied in two coats

Applied rate:

  • 95-100 sq. ft./gal. (9 sq.m./gal.)

Film thickness:

  • Wet: 17 mils ( 425 microns)
  • Dry: 10.1 mils (250 microns)

Temperature:

  • 50 degrees F (10 degrees C) - 194 degrees F (90 degrees C)
  • 72 degrees F (22 degrees C) best

Dry times:

  • 1 hour to touch at 72 degrees F (22 degrees C)
  • 4 hours to recoat

Limitations:

  • Not suitable for underwater use of any kind
  • Not recommended as the only fire protection material to be used in residential or industrial construction
  • Do not use as a stand-alone floor coating
  • Do not used directly on food preparation surfaces
  • Super Therm® can only be tinted by special order from the factory only because of the ceramics used in the coating. Please used our "contact us icon" on our website www.spcinfo.com for any request for special order with color. Minimum volume required with surcharge for tint. Please be aware that darker colors will reduce effectiveness due to the amount of dye requried to effect color change, given the solids content of Super Therm.

SunShield

SunShield is very similar to Super Therm in solar heat blocking performance. It will perform 85% as well as Super Therm in blocking solar heat.  It combines 4 of the same unique ceramic compounds used in Super Therm to block solar heat loading but with a different resin base in its formula. As such, Sunshield is designed to last for 10-15 years. Comparatively, Super Therm will perform for 20-30 years.  Because the resin base used in Sunshield's formula is different than Super Therm's,  Sunshield will not last as long as Super Therm and does not have many of the non solar performance characteristics of Super Therm, such as, the ability to block sound waves, anti-corrosion development additive, mold and mildew development., etc. However, if the goal is to block solar heat loading on external surfaces 10 -15 years or less, then Sunshield offers a tremendous value for the cost. SunShield is formulated to be used in any application where Super Therm is used, offering similar solar heat blocking performance over a shorter period of time.

  • Wet: 17 mils (400 microns)
  • Dry: 10.1mils (180 microns)

SuperBase

Used as a base coat for SuperTherm or SunShield on tar roofs, asphalt shingles, rubber roofs, concrete and wood  and dry surfaces. Superbase is not required as a primer when  Supertherm and Sunshield when used on ceilings and walls or metal surfaces. Superbase is an environmentally-safe coating. Superbase may also be used as an intermediate coat over sealing tape to seal joints, seams, cracks,and vents.

  • Surface must be clean and completely dry, with no loose debris or particles, rust, dirt, oil, films or residues of any kind. Super Base (HS) will cover previous coatings if they are fully adhered to the surface and no surface gloss
  • Mechanically stir

Application methods:

  • Airless or pot sprayed: : tip size .032; apply in one coat using crosshatch method
  • Roller: use 3/4" nap commercial roller; apply in two coats
  • Brush: use soft bristle brush; apply in two coats

Applied rate:

  • 60 sq. ft./gal. on shingle roofing 
  • 100 sq. ft./gal. on walls or to seal wood

Film thickness:

  • All non metal roofing 60-100 square feet per gallon depending on the application. 
  • Walls or Verticals: 10-11 mils dry (400-500 microns wet) to seal pores. Wet: 15 mils - 17 mils
  • Note: As a sealant for roofing over small cracks or holes, apply at 50 square feet per gallon

Temperature:

  • 50 degrees F (10 degrees C) – 95 degrees F (35 degrees C)
  • 70 degrees F (21 degrees C) best

Dry times:

  • 1 hour to touch @ 70 degrees F (21 degrees C)
  • 4 hours to overcoat

Limitations:

  • Not suitable for underwater use of any kind
  • Do not use as floor coating
  • Do not use directly on food preparation surfaces
  • Do not use as an insulating coating
